Elderly feeding project

Feeding the Elderly in the Mapimpana and surrounding villages.

The children's project is only as strong as the homes they come from. We are providing food and support to over 100 elderly parents.

Feeding The Elderly

At the end of 2016, realizing that the grandparents who were left with these children also suffer from  serious food insecurity. A Program was started to feed the elderly. A cooked meal is delivered to their homes Mondays to Thursdays.

Their appreciation is heartwarming. Some said, “Now we can take our pills because we have food”! The program feeds 100 elderly at the moment.

We, the Mthombenis, are trying to light a candle instead of cursing the darkness. “And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”

Food delivery by our volunteers

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

“ for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.”

To try and break this cycle, we took some children downtown to be addressed by professional people, and for them to see what intact and progressive families look like.

Life in Mapimpana has been hard for the elderly grandparents who are taking on the responsibility of raising their grandchildren. These grandparents are unable to properly take care of their grandchildren as they are not able to work.

Your support will help the elderly grandparents who are caring for these children to be able to buy much-needed items such as food, medical bills, school fees, clothes etc. By being able to buy these items, the grandparents can better take care of their grandchildren.
